I take one-year-old
Grand-child in my arms
To the kitchen-garden
And beyond
The mango plant in bloom,
Pluck a leaf from the bough,
Place it in her little hand
Happy with this first touch
Of her life with other life,
She cries for more-
With one more leaf in her hand
Her joy knows no bounds;
Smile spreads across her lips
Enough to make the world happy.
The world is a Heaven,
Light gleams through the eyes,
Flows down the doors of dusk.
Grand-child in my arms
To the kitchen-garden
And beyond
The mango plant in bloom,
Pluck a leaf from the bough,
Place it in her little hand
Happy with this first touch
Of her life with other life,
She cries for more-
With one more leaf in her hand
Her joy knows no bounds;
Smile spreads across her lips
Enough to make the world happy.
The world is a Heaven,
Light gleams through the eyes,
Flows down the doors of dusk.
